This is your homepage. It differs from posts in that it always stays in the same place and is displayed (in most themes) in the site navigation.
As a logged in WordPress user you can customize this page via the edit page link in the toolbar. You can use the page to introduce yourself or your company to your potential visitors. For example, it could say there:
Hello! I work in courier service during the day, at night I devote myself to acting, and this is my website. I live in a big city, have a great dog, and I like drinks with umbrellas (but not standing in the rain without an umbrella).
…or something like this:
XYZ Company was founded in 1971 and has been providing the public with high quality products ever since. At its location in a small metropolitan city, the company employs over 2,000 people and supports city residents in many ways.
If you prefer to present the latest articles on your home page, you should select the option “Your latest posts” in your settings under “Your home page shows”.
